About Tenstorrent
AI chip developer built on the open RISC-V architecture, led by legendary chip engineer Jim Keller, positioning the company as an alternative to NVIDIA. In December 2024 Tenstorrent closed a round of over $693M led by Samsung Securities and AFW Partners at about a $2.6B valuation. Late 2025 talks pointed to a new round at about a $3.2B valuation.
Tenstorrent builds chips and servers for running AI models on the open RISC-V architecture and licenses the same design to third parties. Founded in 2016 in Toronto. The same Tensix and RISC-V cores sit inside a $999 board and a $110,000 server. By June 25, 2026, 1,000 Galaxy servers had been built, at least half sold, with 10 customers running them on their own premises. On June 30 the company demonstrated 900 tokens per second on the Kimi K2.6 model — roughly three times faster than comparable GPU-based solutions. $1.79B raised in total across named rounds.
