About Helion Energy

Developing magneto-inertial fusion using deuterium and helium-3 with no neutron output, and building the first commercial fusion power plant. Has signed an agreement to supply Microsoft with electricity by 2028.

Helion Energy is an American fusion company, founded in 2013 by four plasma engineers in Redmond, headquartered in Everett. It is building a power plant that draws current directly from plasma, without a steam boiler or turbine: two plasma clumps collide and are compressed by magnets, and after fusion the plasma expands, returning energy directly to the electrical circuit. In 2026, its seventh prototype, Polaris, became the first private device to achieve deuterium-tritium fusion. Its first plant, Orion, is being built under a contract with Microsoft and is due to come online in 2028, followed by a 500 MW project for Nucor. Following a Series G round, the company's valuation reached $15.5 billion in June 2026, with more than $1.5 billion raised to date.
