KYC, AML and your data
Which checks every investor passes and why they are a legal requirement rather than a platform preference — plus where your documents live.
The short answer
Every investor passes an identity check, a sanctions screening, and — for transfers — questions about where the money came from. These are legal requirements on the offering and on the adviser, not preferences Axevil has adopted. The documents you upload are used for those checks, retained for as long as anti-money-laundering law requires, and handled under the Privacy Policy.
Three things being verified, and why
Identity A government-issued document plus a liveness check, confirming that the person opening the account is the person on the document. This is what "KYC" means in practice. Sanctions and screening A check against sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists. Required before anyone can be onboarded, and repeated over the life of the relationship. Source of funds Where the money being transferred came from. Asked at transfer, and asked more thoroughly the larger the transfer — that scaling is what the rules require.
What happens to the documents
Identity and accreditation documents are processed for the checks above and retained for the period anti-money-laundering law requires, which is longer than the life of an account. What is collected, on what legal basis, who processes it and how long it is kept is set out in the Privacy Policy. You can request deletion of your personal data through the data deletion request. Records a regulator requires to be kept cannot be deleted on request; everything outside that retention obligation can.
Who sees what you upload
The compliance function that has to run the check, and the specialist providers that perform identity and sanctions screening on its behalf. Nobody on the commercial side needs your identity document to do their job, and it is not a sales input. A regulator or a bank, where the law or the transfer requires it — a wire into an SPV account is subject to the receiving institution’s own checks as well as ours. Screening is not a one-off at signup either. Sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists change, so an existing relationship is re-screened over its life.
What you receive, and what nobody here will tell you
Reporting is produced at the SPV level. US investors receive the partnership reporting the structure generates; investors elsewhere receive SPV-level reporting to file with under their own rules. Which forms apply to you depends on your residence and on the structure of the deal. Axevil does not give tax advice Not as a disclaimer — as a statement of what the reporting is for. Take it to a tax adviser in your own jurisdiction, particularly before the first distribution, because the treatment of a distribution is rarely obvious and rarely the same in two countries.
