Skyryse
Skyryse is the American developer of SkyOS, an operating system for flight, founded in 2016 in El Segundo. Today a helicopter is flown with both hands and both feet at once, and more than half of accidents are caused by pilot error. SkyOS removes the mechanical control linkages and installs three mutually redundant flight computers, one control stick and two touchscreens: takeoff, hover and landing are started with a swipe of a finger, and if the engine fails the aircraft lands itself. The system is retrofitted into aircraft already flying. In 2025 the FAA approved the design of the flight computers, and the company moved on to certification test flights. In December 2025 SkyOS flew an Army Black Hawk 91 days after installation began. The Series C in February 2026 raised $300 million with demand twice the round size at a valuation of $1.15 billion; more than $605 million has been raised in total.

Air Methods: more than 400 aircraft.
In 2022 the largest U.S. air medical operator agreed to retrofit more than 400 helicopters and airplanes with SkyOS. Air Methods later provided Skyryse with an H130 helicopter for certification and became an investor.
The U.S. Army and the Black Hawk.
Since January 2025 the Army has been working with Skyryse on a helicopter that flies with or without a crew. Partner Ace Aeronautics resells Black Hawks and is preparing hundreds of aircraft for SkyOS at its plant in Alabama.
CAL FIRE: flights over fire.
In July 2025 California's fire agency signed a multiyear contract to install SkyOS. Skyryse calls it the largest fire agency in the world, and flights over fire take place in smoke and at low altitude.
