Patreon
Patreon is an American paid fan-subscription platform founded in 2013 in San Francisco by musician Jack Conte and engineer Sam Yam. A creator sets up a page with several subscription tiers, and fans pay monthly for exclusive episodes, videos, chats and livestreams; the platform processes payments and pays creators, keeping a commission. About 300,000 creators earn on Patreon, including podcasters, video bloggers, artists and game developers, and more than 10 million fans pay them. Creators earn more than $2 billion a year through the platform, and more than $10 billion has been paid out since 2013. Podcasts are growing fastest: in 2025 they earned $629 million, 33% more than a year earlier. The Series F led by Tiger Global in April 2021 valued the company at $4 billion, and it has raised $412 million over seven rounds.
