Bot Auto
Bot Auto is an American autonomous freight carrier, founded in 2023 in Houston by Xiaodi Hou. It sells transportation services, not technology: it carries freight for J. B. Hunt, Ryan Transportation, and Steves & Sons, has contracts with over 25 clients, and claims a per-mile cost lower than that of a trip with a driver. In April 2026, the company's truck carried commercial freight for 231 miles on the Houston–Dallas route without a person in the cab and without a remote driver, completing it in 3 hours 41 minutes. Insurance broker Marsh assembled a separate program for driverless trips from an insurer with an A rating. The latest round is Pre-Series A for $20 million, with a total of $40 million raised.
Key highlights
Where Bot Auto stands today across technology, financials and market traction.
Steves & Sons launched its first pilot.
A San Antonio door manufacturer launched a pilot in summer 2025 together with its logistics operator J.B. Hunt. Shipments traveled along routes between San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston, for now with a safety driver.
Ryan Transportation freight traveled 231 miles unmanned.
The broker, which ranks 19th in the Transport Topics rating, awarded Bot Auto the Houston–Dallas night route in February 2026. On April 29, the truck delivered its cargo in 3 hours 41 minutes, and there was no one in the cab.
Marsh insured unmanned flights.
The insurance broker in November 2025 arranged a separate program for Bot Auto from an A-rated insurer. It included liability, cargo, and cyber risks — without this, a driverless commercial trip is impossible.
