Aviatrix
Aviatrix is an American cloud networking and security company founded in 2014 in Santa Clara by engineer Sherry Wei. Large enterprises run applications across several clouds at once, each with its own network settings and security tools; Aviatrix software gateways are deployed inside the client's cloud networks and manage routing, encryption and firewalls across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and the client's own data centers from a single console. It has more than 500 customers, including Heineken, AB InBev, IHG and Splunk. By 2023 annual revenue approached $100 million. Since 2023 the company has been led by Doug Merritt, who ran Splunk for six years, and under him Aviatrix is moving from connectivity to security. Its 2021 Series E valued it at $2 billion, and it has raised $351 million over six rounds.
Key highlights
Where Aviatrix stands today across technology, financials and market traction.
Republic Airways: recovery in an hour instead of days.
The regional airline, with more than 240 aircraft, runs its systems in its own data centers, AWS and Azure. After moving to Aviatrix, recovery after an outage takes less than an hour, and a new cloud region launches the same day.
AB InBev: 80% of infrastructure in the cloud.
The world's largest brewer runs about 80% of its infrastructure in public clouds. With Aviatrix the company resolved address conflicts inherited from acquired companies and began allocating cloud costs across business units.
Heineken: a network in minutes.
The brewer, with plants in more than seventy countries, chose Aviatrix in 2021 to stop depending on a single cloud. Networking and security are now deployed in minutes from standard templates instead of days and weeks.
