About Erebor
US digital bank focused on stablecoins and serving startups in crypto, AI, defense, and manufacturing. Founded by Palmer Luckey and Joe Lonsdale with backing from Peter Thiel, the bank raised $350M at a $4.35B valuation in December 2025 after regulatory approval and launched in February 2026.
Erebor — the first fully licensed US bank in a decade (national OCC license + FDIC deposit insurance), built for simultaneous operation with dollars and stablecoins. It covers three markets not served today by any single institution: banking for the crypto industry, lending to high-net-worth tech-sector clients, and servicing startups (a structural vacuum after the departure of SVB and First Republic). Founders are Joe Lonsdale (8VC, Palantir), Palmer Luckey (Anduril), and Peter Thiel (Founders Fund). Since its launch in February 2026, deposits have reached ~$1.1 billion; they received the national banking license in ~8 months — a record for a de novo bank in the US. Latest valuation $4.35 billion (Series A, Dec 2025), target for IPO 2028 — ~$35 billion.
