About Commure

Commure was founded in 2017 within the General Catalyst fund at the initiative of its head, Hemant Taneja. Initially, it was a platform for medical application developers, then the company switched to programs for large hospitals. In October 2023, it merged with Athelas, Tanay Tandon's startup, which automated doctors' settlements with insurers.

Commure is an American company making AI agents for hospitals and clinics, founded in 2017 in Mountain View. Its platform manages the entire journey from patient call to bill payment: scheduling, admission protocols, and settlements with insurers. The solution is used by HCA Healthcare, Tenet, and over 130 other large US healthcare systems; over $25 billion in insurance claims pass through the platform annually. HCA is not only a client but also a shareholder: it joined the board of directors during the 2023 merger, and in November 2024, it sold its PatientKeeper system to Commure. Home care network Compassus reduced the processing of one referral by 64%, while the largest US group of obstetricians-gynecologists increased the share of charges coded without human intervention to 85%. A $70 million round led by General Catalyst took place at a valuation of $7 billion, with a total of approximately $750 million raised.
